With rates starting at 8.9 APR, it's not the cheapest but it isn't far off and is very competitive with regards the others in the mild credit status field. Alliance and Leicester say that the application can be completed and a decision returned within 10 minutes of hitting their site.
One thing you should be aware of is that this loan is only for the amount of £7500 to £15,000.

Alliance and Leicester also provide the payment protection insurance which we always advise against on the grounds that in 90% of cases it's a rip off to consumers. This isn't our view with Alliance and Leicesters product, just the payment protection industry in general.

Conditions of application,
  1. You are permanently resident in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland. Loans are not available to applicants permanently resident in the Channel Islands or Isle of Man
  2. Over 21 years of age
  3. In addition, to take out our optional loan protection, you must be aged under 65 at the end of the loan, and be working 16 hours or more each week
  4. You do not have a history of bad credit (in other words, county court judgements or bankruptcy).
  5. You have a Bank / Building Society account from which you can pay direct debits
